Comelec completes last day of COC submission and 1.5million BSKE staking project

    MANILA

The Election Commission (Comelec) ended the last day of the extension of the submission of Certificate of Candidate (COC) in Metro Manila and Abra on Monday.

In an interview, Comelec President George Erwin Garcia said that despite a small number of people registered over the past day, the election agency expects about 1.

5 million candidates nationwide to participate.

participate in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) elections.

Only 672,016 seats remain to be filled for the barangay (village) and SK positions, but as of 11 a.m., about 1,390,162 ambitious candidates have submitted their COCs.

Of this total, there are about 95,731 village presidents and 721,181 village council candidates; and 91,033 aspiring SK presidents and 482,217 candidates for SK membership.

“The results were more than we could have hoped for.

We congratulate and extend our deepest thanks to everyone who participated and helped us in this activity,” Garcia said in the message.Viber.Election-related violence

Meanwhile, Garcia noted that the August 28 COC submission so far has been peaceful.

“Kung ikukumpara natin sa final candidacy submission, ito na po ang pinakamatahimik, pinakamaayos, (at) pinaka- organization na the submission of the candidacy certificate (If we have to compare this with the COC application).

last time, it was the most peaceful, orderly filing and COC organization),” he said.

However, Garcia did reveal a reported incident that prevented a candidate from filing his COC in Malabang, Lanao del Sur.

“Nagkaroon ng putukan, at the same time, mayroong sinasabi na hinarangan ‘yung magpa-file ng candidacy certificate (There were reports of a shooting incident, and there were also reports that a registrant was prevented from submitting a COC).), ” he say.

However, he declined to provide details.

“They’re growing in Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, all the way north, all the way up to the areas of possible concern that we’re monitoring, really nothing has happened.

    The application is happening.

well, it’s just its own location (From Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, all over the north, even in those monitored as potentially worrying areas, no cases have been reported.

recorded in this area alone),” he said.

Garcia said an immediate response was made following the incident and, in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), warrants for the arrest of three unnamed suspects were requested.

He also discussed the possibility of filing a complaint against possible allegations, including gun bans, unauthorized shootings, alarms and scandals.

He also warned against stricter implementation of electoral measures in the BSKE election in October.

As of today, the election authority is still awaiting the final national security review of the PNP before determining areas of concern regarding the upcoming election.

She reminded the candidates that early campaigning will not be tolerated, from the date the COC is submitted until before the official campaigning period October 19-28.

“Our president [of Comelec] is very aggressive when it comes to filing complaints against early campaigners.

This is an election violation and is criminal in nature, they can be jailed or disqualified,” she stressed.

She added that Comelec will also automatically remove any campaign material, including posters, posted prior to the campaign, as it is considered illegal and constitutes an election offense.

She also warned aspiring politicians that an early campaign on social media could make them easy to spot because they have free access.

Similarly, Enumerables urges the public to file a complaint and send it to the Comelec office if they see candidates undertaking early campaigning, such as posting tarpaulins.

“It’s really important that someone complains.

But if we see it with our own eyes, we can file a complaint,” she said.
